Mobile ALECS -- gives scenario participants a whole new level of realism and allows them to develop technical skills on a "patient" that will respond accordingly. As students treat the patient, he responds physiologically to the students choice of treatment thus enhancing critical thinking as well as technical skills.

The inside of the ambulance looks like any other ambulance with shelves and bags filled with rescucitation equipment and supplies. However, unobtrusively mounted on the ceiling and walls are cameras, microphones and speakers. This increases the reality of the scenario as only the students actually rendering care, and ALECS, are inside the rig. The rest of the class can remain on the outside and participate in the evaluation of the entire scenario as it is projected on a large screen plasma TV. It can also be viewed real-time on the internet via an internet server allowing both long distance learning and/or participation by a distance instructor such as your Medical Director.
